The Student Hotel
A mobile art installation for The Student Hotel that can be placed in their various locations to get the conversation going on Disruption as a theme. A version of the statue “The emperor has no balls” is the eyecatcher that invites the visitor to interact with the system. Type your thoughts and see them animated in realtime on the videowall. Your message will be added to this ever evolving artwork based on thoughts about Disruption. Unfiltered. Disruptive.
The system is made up out of two visual elements: the video wall and the user interface (UI). The installation displays a continuous graphic compilation of realtime messages that have been written by users and a compilation of selfies posted and tagged with a specific hashtag.
CUSTOMER JOURNEY
A user approaches the installation and sees a short introduction/explanation on the UI screen. This introduction explains the theme & reasoning behind the installation while on the video wall rich animations and texts trigger the user to contribute. The UI screen prompts the user to touch and write a message. Either by submitting a message or posting a selfie on a social network with a specific hashtag.
On touching the UI, an onscreen keyboard appears together with a text field which allows for a message with a maximum of 280 characters.
When the user completes the message, he or she can submit the message with one simple button. Submitting the messages will inject it into a database which feeds the compilations seen on the videowall. After submitting the message, an animation on both the UI as the video wall will confirm a succeeded submission.
